"Improved" Croatia 2022 World Cup Home Kits

Could Nike have created a better Croatia 2022 World Cup home kit? Surely, and that even when keeping the design idea of the original kit.

The Croatia 2022 World Cup kit by Nike is certainly not one of Nike's worst World Cup jerseys but also not nearly among the best. It is rated with an average of 3.3/5 stars on Football Kit Archive.

The concept is part of a contest run by Twitter account @FSYQatar. It challenges designers to improve 2022 World Cup kits using the elements from the original shirts but in a different manner.

For his concept, Argentinian designer MTN (@_MTN25) got inspired by the Croatia 1998 World Cup kit and Nike's Croatia 2022 World Cup kit.

It has red squares from the top right to the middle but none in the lower part, creating the illusion of a waving flag. The Swoosh and Croatia logo are not placed in the center but on the right/left.

MTN also added some red-white-blue detailing to the collar and the sleeve cuffs, also inspired by the 1998 jersey.

A second designer also tried to improve Nike's Croatia 2022 kit. @venegascdavid's design has red and light grey squares in different sizes, a bold and never-used-before approach for Croatia kits.
