DC United 2023 "Cherry Blossom" Away Kit Released
DC United follow in the footsteps of their fellow franchises from basketball and baseball by releasing a Cherry Blossom kit. Traditionally called, it is the new DC United 2023-2024 away kit.
The club [D.C. United] advised about how important the cherry blossom trees are for Washington, the whole story around them, and their uniqueness. We all agreed this narrative would make sense for the community and went for it,” said the Adidas global design team in a statement provided to the club. “The rest is a matter of design, where we tried multiple options to make an iconic football jersey, following Adidas' seasonal creative direction without losing the connection to the story and the values of the club.
DC United 2023 Away Kit

Predominantly white, the Adidas DC United 2023 away jersey features black and pink trim on the sides, sleeves, and collar. The black stripe down each side of the shirt, in line with the Adidas World Cup template, contains various club slogans (only on the authentic version).
Petals from cherry blossoms along with branches cover about half of the front of the new DC United 2023 away jersey, with some small black details appearing as well.
The cherry blossom trees in Washington D.C. are a famous tourist attraction and symbol of springtime in the city. These trees were gifted to the United States from Japan in 1912 as a symbol of friendship between the two countries.
The DC United 2023 away kit also features two signature sign-off elements: (1) a cherry blossom branch designed by D.C. United and placed onto the back collar of the jersey and (2) the club mantra, “All are Welcome, All are United” found embossed within the black binding of the body of the shirt, only available on the authentic version of the kit.
The Nationals (baseball) and Wizards (basketball) have used the same concept on their uniforms recently.
