Sevilla Wear White Shirt and Shorts for the First Time at Old Trafford Against Man United

Sevilla’s Europa League match against Manchester United this midweek became quite a historic one for the club’s jersey. In the game that ended in a 2-2 draw, Los Nervionenses apparently gets to wear their home white jersey and shorts for the first time ever at Old Trafford, something they didn’t manage in the previous three away meetings against the Red Devils.

Sevilla Wear Home Kit for The First Time at Old Trafford

For the midweek tie, Sevilla basically plays with their home kit, combining a white shirt and shorts with a slight modification on the socks as they wore their red ones which are typically used for the second kit. Those kit combinations worked and didn’t cause any kit clash as Man United also modifies their outlook by wearing black shorts instead of their regular white ones, which they would normally wear.

Sevilla Already Visit Man United at Old Trafford Three Times in the Past

The La Liga outfit are no stranger to Man United and Old Trafford as the Thursday match was their fourth visit to the iconic ground. Previously, Sevilla played at the stadium in two friendlies in 2007 and 2013 while the last meeting in 2018 was in the last 16 of the Champions League.

For the first visit at Old Trafford in the preseason friendly, which also marks the stadium’s new North-West and North-East quadrant, Sevilla were wearing their black and blue third kit made by Joma for the 2006/07 season. That game didn’t end well for Los Nervionenses as they end up losing that game 3-0, though the Spaniard did end their season with another success of winning their second consecutive UEFA Cup/Europa League glory.

On their next visit to Old Trafford in the 2013 friendly which was also a testimonial game for Rio Ferdinand, Sevilla also wore their third kit, only this time it was a black-yellow combination. That color combination seems to be giving more luck as Los Nervionenses ends up winning a comfortable 3-0 against David Moyes-coached side at the time.

Meanwhile, their next matchup in the last 16 of UCL in 2018 saw Sevilla also honing their third kit only this time it’s an all-black one. That game was another positive one for the La Liga outfit as they won 2-1 which also clinched their passage into the next round of that competition.

Moreover, wearing the combination of their home kit with red socks are also quite uncommon for Sevilla, at least this season. The midweek game was the first time they did it for the current 2022/23 seasons as the last time the club wore it was last season in an away game against Dinamo Zagreb during the Europa League playoff.

Picking up a 2-2 draw with two late goals at Old Trafford after wearing their rare home kit combination, Sevilla will be hoping that a positive result will also go their way in the second leg of their Europa League quarter finals clash in Spain next midweek.
