Nike Did Want to Revolutionize Sporting Stromp Kit, but the Club Rejected It

Nike's plan to revolutionize Sporting's Stromp kit for the 2023-24 season have apparently hit a snag, with the club reportedly rejecting the sportswear giant's bold design.

The Stromp kit is the club's most classic jersey. This original shirt features a green and white half-and-half design, in homage to "Stromp": one of the founders of Sporting, who was a talented footballer and athlete. Sporting are usually releasing a new Stromp kit every two seasons - they last did two years ago, so a new Stromp kit was/is scheduled for this campaign.

Stromp belonged to Sporting for 15 years, from 1908 until 1923-1924. 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of Stromp's last Sporting Cp game.

Nike's "Innovative" Sporting Stromp Kit Rejected by Club

According to rumors from a Sporting CP fan forum shared by the specialist Portuguese account @ACamisola_, Nike had proposed a diagonal model for the jersey, instead of the traditional split vertical design. However, Sporting's management rejected the idea.

The proposed design is said to be very similar (or even identical) to Wolfsburg's kit, which features a bold diagonal stripe.

It is not known if the club will release a new Stromp kit this season.
