Aston Villa Wears Different Sponsor Logo vs Ajax

  • Sponsor Change: Aston Villa wore the Acorns charity logo instead of their betting sponsor, BK8, due to Dutch advertising regulations.
  • Charity Connection: Acorns, a children's hospice, has a prior history of shirt sponsorship with Aston Villa and is visited by players during the holiday season.
  • Limited Edition Kit: The Aston Villa kit featuring the Acorns logo is not available for purchase by the public.

Aston Villa Football Club wore a special logo in its UEFA Europa Conference League Last-16 tie against AFC Ajax this Thursday. Let us find out why.

Betting Advertising Regulations in The Netherlands: Aston Villa Wears Acorns Charity Logo

Due to Dutch advertising regulations that were introduced in July 2023, Aston Villa was forbidden to wear the logo of its betting sponsor, BK8. Aston Villa decided to put the logo of Acorns, a local children's hospice charity, on the front.

This is not the first time that Acorns will feature on Aston Villa's shirts. They held the club's shirt sponsorship title between 2008 and 2010.

However, the initiative goes beyond just featuring a logo on the shirts. Aston Villa players and management have a tradition of visiting Acorns during the holiday season to spread joy and distribute presents to the children.

The Aston Villa kit with the Acorns logo is not available to buy.

Do you like that Villa decided to wear a charity sponsor on the front? Would you like Aston Villa to make the Acorns-sponsored kit available for purchase? Let us know in the comments below.

First Time in 12 Years: Juventus Bring Back Long-Sleeved Kits on Pitch

Making his Juventus debut in the match against AC Milan, Nick Woltemade was the only Juventus player on the pitch wearing long sleeves. Excluding special-edition kits, the German strike became the first Bianconeri player made this choice since Andrea Pirlo and Claudio Marchisio back in the 13-14 season.

Remarkably, even Cristiano Ronaldo, a long-sleeve icon, never wore one during his time in Turin.

Liverpool Could Use a Text-Only Turkish Airlines Sponsor?

Liverpool have announced that Turkish Airlines will become the club's new shirt sponsor from the 2027-28 season, ending the Reds' 17-year partnership with Standard Chartered.

While early fan concepts have used Turkish Airlines' familiar circular bird logo above the wordmark, a text-only sponsor could also be a realistic option.

The airline previously used a simplified two-line “TURKISH AIRLINES” wordmark on River Plate's shirts between 2019 and 2022, while Turkish clubs such as Galatasaray and Samsunspor have also used streamlined typographic versions of the branding.

A text-only layout could give Liverpool's future Adidas shirts a cleaner, less crowded look. The final sponsor application has yet to be confirmed, with the partnership set to begin in June 2027.
