Revolutionary? Nike Nigeria 2024 Kit Features Square Collar

Nike unveiled the Nigeria 2024 home jersey on Monday, featuring a unique square collar that has never been seen in football before.

Nike Nigeria 2024 Home Kit Features Boxed Collar, Likely Designed by Angelo Trofa

The collar is referred to as a boxed collar by Nike. It is essentially like a standard round collar but square. Yeah, odd.

The boxed collar was likely designed by Nike soccer designer Angelo Trofa. Trofa previously designed similar concepts with a boxed collar a decade ago and has been working for Nike Football for a few years, designing various jerseys for the brand.

As Nike has only released a limited image of the Nigeria 2024 home kit so far, it remains to be seen how it will appear in official product images and on the pitch.

Will the collar distract players?

The main question surrounding the jersey is whether the unconventional collar will be practical and functional for the players or if it will prove to be a distraction.

For casual t-shirts, the box neck is more of a women's thing (with a much larger cutout). For men, casual t-shirts with a box neck look ridiculous and have never really caught on.

Nike 2024 Collars

In total, Nike created four unique collars for its 2024 kits. The one-of-a-kind constructions have already caused a debate, but surely make the kits more interesting.

Nike's collar innovation is heavily discussed
