FAKE NEWS: There is No Premier League Rule That Forbids a Team with Title-Winning Chance to Wear Next Season's Kits

  • Premier League Rule: There is no Premier League rule preventing teams with a title chance from wearing their next season's kit on the final matchday.
  • Arsenal's Decision: Arsenal chose not to wear their new 2024-2025 home kit for the final match of the season, despite having the option to do so.
  • New Kit Debut: The new Arsenal 2024-2025 home kit will debut during their pre-season tour of America in July.

Arsenal will not be wearing its new home kit on the final matchday of the season. However, while social media posts suggest that this would be because of a Premier League rule, it was a decision by the club.

Last year, Arsenal debuted its 23-24 home kit in the last home match of the 22-23 season.

Fake News Debunked: Arsenal's Kit Choice Not Dictated by Premier League Rule - Club Could Have Decided to Wear New Kit But Opted Against

The rule can be found in M.21. of the official Premier League handbook, as pictured below.

It is claimed that a Premier League rule prevents teams that still have a chance of winning the title on the final matchday from wearing their current season's kit. However, this claim is incorrect.

Instead, Arsenal had to notify the Premier League within 14 days of the game that they wished to wear a new kit. As they chose not to, Arsenal will wear the 23-24 kit for the final game against Everton.

The new Arsenal 2024-2025 home kit will instead be worn during Arsenal's pre-season tour of America. This tour begins on 27 July with a match against Manchester United in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, the Arsenal Women's team already wore the new kit on Saturday.
