BVB Sells Half a Million Kits a Year, Excluding Special Releases
According to Sport Bild, Borussia Dortmund (BVB) consistently sells around 500,000 jerseys annually. With these sales, the club is generating approximately 10 million euros net income per season. This figure doesn’t include special edition kits, such as the 50th anniversary Westfalenstadion jersey, which sold an impressive 75,000 units on its own.
Last year's special-edition kit sold 75,000 units
BVB’s earnings per kit depend on the distribution channel. When sold directly through the club’s fan shop, BVB retains 25 to 30 euros from the typical 90 euro price tag. However, if sold by other retailers, the club only makes around five to seven euros per jersey.
BVB’s marketing head Carsten Cramer hinted at another potential special edition kit release in the coming months. This confirms information by Footy Headlines, who revealed several months ago that Borussia will release an electricity yellow special kit in spring 2025.

According to DFL regulations, Bundesliga clubs are permitted to wear up to six different jerseys per season, which includes home, away, alternate, and two special jerseys, along with the next season's kit for matchdays 33 and 34.
