Update: After the October World Cup qualifiers concluded, 10 more teams secured their spots for the 2026 World Cup, bringing the total number of qualified nations for the world's biggest football spectacle in 2026 to 28. As of now, Adidas has temporarily overtaken Nike to lead in the number of teams representing the brand at the 2026 World Cup.
The road to the 48-team 2026 FIFA World Cup is well underway, and the first 18 teams have now officially secured their places at the tournament. With these early qualifications, mainly from the AFC and CONMEBOL confederations, we can get a first glimpse at the 'kit maker battle' for the biggest tournament on earth.

Adidas currently leads with 8 national teams, followed closely by Nike and Puma, each with 7.

Among the 8 Adidas-backed nations are host country Mexico, reigning champions Argentina, and a new addition, South Africa (whose official outfitter will be announced by the end of the year).
Nike temporarily lost its lead, adding only one nation (England) among the 10 newly qualified teams.
Puma has made significant progress, gaining 4 new teams (all from Africa), increasing its total to 7 nations.
