England 2026 World Cup Home Kit to Feature Gold Star- First Time in 13 Years

  • Gold Star Returns: The England 2026 World Cup home kit will feature a gold star above the Three Lions crest, marking the first time in 13 years that the star commemorating their 1966 World Cup victory will be gold.
  • Visibility Improvement: The change to a gold star aims to make the World Cup winner's tribute more prominent and visible, as the previous white or silver stars often blended into the shirt.
  • Previous Gold Star Appearance: The last time an England home shirt featured a non-white/silver star was in 2013 on the special kit celebrating the FA's 150th anniversary, which also had a gold star.

A small but significant and long-awaited detail on the leaked England 2026 World Cup home kit marks a big change from recent years. For the first time in 13 years, the World Cup winners' star above the Three Lions crest will be gold.

England 2026 World Cup Home Kit to Feature Gold Star

For the past decade, on almost all of England's white home kits, the star commemorating the 1966 World Cup victory has been rendered in white or silver. This often caused the star to blend into the shirt, making it very difficult to see from a distance.

The move to a gold star for the 2026 kit, which will be made with the new Nike AERO-FIT technology, makes the tribute much more prominent and visible.

Last Seen on 2013 Anniversary Home Kit

The last time an England home shirt featured a non-white/silver star was back in 2013, on the special kit celebrating the FA's 150th anniversary, which also had a gold star.

Prior to the recent trend of white/silver stars, the color often varied. For example, the 2006 and 2008 home kits featured a gold star, while the Euro 2012 kit famously had a red star.
