In their recent League Cup match, Celtic took to the pitch with an unusual shirt mix, as greatly spotted by Reddit user PianoLoud3622. While most players wore the authentic short-sleeve adidas jerseys - featuring heat-applied 3 Stripes, lightweight fabric and crest - some players, including Tounekti, appeared in long-sleeve versions that were replicas rather than authentic models.
Celtic Long-Sleeve Kits Only Available as Replica
The replica long sleeves were identifiable by their stitched 3 Stripes, which extended down to the cuff, unlike the authentic long-sleeve player issue designs.
Celtic is considered a “local elite” adidas club, rather than a “global elite” like Real Madrid or Liverpool, which partly explains why authentic long-sleeve kits are not produced for them. Interestingly, long-sleeve authentic versions are available for other adidas local elite clubs such as Aston Villa and Newcastle.
