Should the World Cup Ball Be Used in the World Cup (Year) Only?
- Early Appearance of Trionda: The Adidas Trionda, the official ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has been spotted in matches a year early, sparking debate among fans.
- Fan Reactions: Some fans are bothered by the early use of the World Cup match ball, while others believe it allows players to adapt to it before the tournament.
- Adidas' Reasoning: Adidas aims to release the Trionda early to make it available for purchase during the Christmas season, maximizing sales.
Adidas' Trionda, the official match ball for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is making its way onto pitches earlier than any World Cup ball in recent memory - and fans have noticed. Thanks to @hendocfc for the heads up.
Fans React as 2026 World Cup Ball ‘Trionda’ Appears in Matches a Year Early
Spain’s U21 side was seen using the ball this week, marking the first time this century that a World Cup ball has been used in October of the previous year. However, it is nothing new that the World Cup soccer ball is used months ahead of the actual tournament. In 2017, the Adidas Telstar 18 World Cup soccer ball was used a few days after the unveiling in November 2017, 7 months ahead of the actual kickoff.
Designer @hendocfc summed up the feeling of many: “Kind of bothers me that the World Cup matchball is used in official matches before the Cup itself.” While some argue that the early rollout allows players to adapt, others feel it takes away from the excitement of seeing the ball for the first time on football’s biggest stage.
The reason for the early reveal is simple -Adidas wants the Trionda on store shelves in time for the Christmas period, giving fans an early chance to buy the ball well ahead of the 2026 tournament. If launched just weeks before the tournament, Adidas would likely miss sales.
Is Adidas right to release the Trionda this early? Let us know in the comments.
Cristiano Ronaldo Switches Mercurial Boots at Halftime Against Colombia

The exclusive design was created as a tribute to his historic achievement of scoring in six different FIFA World Cup tournaments, a record-breaking milestone in international football.
Despite the pre-match hype surrounding the limited-edition tribute boots, Ronaldo only wore the 'Gold Scorpion' edition for the opening 45 minutes of the game. Following the halftime break, he was seen switching back to the standard 'Breakout' colorway of the Nike Mercurial Superfly 11, likely opting for the familiar comfort of his regular match boots.

Adidas Celebrates Messi's 19 World Cup Goals With '19 On His Back' Post
Adidas have celebrated Lionel Messi's stunning free-kick goal in Argentina's 3-1 victory over Jordan at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Following the match, the brand posted an image of Messi wearing Argentina's 2026 away shirt with the number 19, paying tribute to the 19 World Cup goals he has scored across six tournament appearances. At the same time, the image serves as a nostalgic nod to the young Messi, who made his World Cup debut wearing the No. 19 shirt exactly 20 years ago.
The post features the caption "19 on his back, 19 in the back of the net" alongside "full circle. el ultimo tango", referencing his return to the squad number he first wore for the national team. Messi came off the bench to score in the 80th minute, marking his sixth goal of the tournament and extending his lead in the Golden Boot race at 39 years old.

Tanjong Pagar United Reveal Controversial New AI Logo
Following a recent change in club management, Singapore Premier League side Tanjong Pagar United have introduced a new club crest for the 2026-27 season. First spotted in an AFC licensing document earlier this month, the updated emblem replaces the club's traditional hand-drawn badge with a modernized design that has quickly drawn criticism from fans for looking overly generic and being AI-generated (it probably was).
The new management took charge on June 1, but there is currently no official confirmation on whether the team's kit colors will also be altered to complement the newly introduced visual identity.
