Not Appropriate for 2026 World Cup: Last-Minute Supplier Adidas Must Give Curaçao Better Kits After Historic Qualification
- Curaçao's Historic Qualification: The island nation of Curaçao has surprisingly qualified for the 2026 World Cup, marking a significant achievement in their soccer history.
- Adidas's Inadequate Kits: Adidas, the last-minute supplier for Curaçao, has provided standard, uninspired teamwear jerseys that lack custom design and cultural relevance, which is a stark contrast to the bespoke kits designed for other World Cup nations.
- Call for Bespoke Kits: There is a demand for Adidas to replace the current teamwear jerseys with bespoke kits for Curaçao, as the team deserves to represent their historic tournament debut with unique and appropriate attire.
In one of the biggest shocks in qualification history, the tiny island nation of Curaçao has booked their ticket to the 2026 World Cup. However, while the team has stepped up to the elite level, their kits have not.
Last-Minute Supplier Adidas Must Give Curacao Better Kits for 2026 World Cup
Just days ago, Adidas officially launched the Curaçao 2026 home and away kits. Under normal circumstances, for a small federation expected to miss out on the World Cup, these would be acceptable.
However, these are standard Campeon 25 teamwear jerseys. There is no custom design, no cultural pattern, and no unique detailing.
To make matters worse, the official product images released seem unfinished. The Curaçao crest appears to be crudely Photoshopped onto a stock image of the Campeon 25 shirt, suggesting that Adidas was caught completely off guard by the team's success.
We believe that Adidas, who recently replaced Kelme as the nation's supplier, must scrap the current teamwear jerseys and release a bespoke set for Curaçao's historic tournament debut.
A Stark Contrast to the Rest
Adidas 2026 World Cup Home Kits Released - 22 Teams
Earlier this month, Adidas released 22 bespoke home kits for their World Cup nations, featuring incredible details, custom fonts, and high-tech materials.
For Curaçao to step onto the field in North America wearing a catalog jersey available to any Sunday league team would be a massive disappointment. It would visually separate them from the "serious" nations, despite them earning their place on merit.
6 Months to Fix It
We fully understand that a teamwear kit for Curaçao could be acceptable under the condition that the national team would not be able to participate in the World Cup. But the situation has changed
With approximately six months to go until the tournament kicks off, a giant like Adidas has the resources and the time to pivot. They don't need to reinvent the wheel-even a semi-custom design using miTeam options or a unique sublimation print would be a massive upgrade over the plain Campeon 25.
Curaçao's first-ever World Cup is a historic moment. It deserves better than a Photoshop job and a template. Adidas, make it happen.
