- New Kit Supplier: Wigan Athletic is ending its partnership with Puma and starting a new kit supplier agreement with O'Neills, beginning June 1, 2026.
- Bespoke Kit Design: The move to O'Neills will give Wigan Athletic full creative control over their kit designs, moving away from standard templates.
- Local Connection: O'Neills' UK head office is located near Wigan, and the lead designer for the new kits is from the local Wigan area.
After an eight-year partnership, English side Wigan Athletic is officially saying goodbye to Puma. The Latics have announced a brand-new kit supplier agreement with Irish sportswear brand O’Neills, set to begin on June 1, 2026.
No More Templates: Full Creative Control
For kit nerds and fans alike, this is nice news, as the club has explicitly stated their desire to move away from standard catalog designs.
Wigan Athletic O’Neills Kit Maker Deal
During their time with Puma, Wigan often received standard teamwear templates. The move to O'Neills promises to completely change that.
According to the official announcement, the new partnership will provide Wigan Athletic with a fully bespoke approach to kit design. The club will finally have complete creative control over fabrics, trims, prints, and badge applications, explicitly stating they will no longer have to rely on "standard templates."
"This is not a case of taking a standard template and changing a few colours. We have control over more of the finished product," said Nicola Prior, the club's Group Head of Retail.
Local Ties & Special Editions
O'Neills is steadily building a massive reputation in the UK and Ireland for creating culturally resonant, highly customized shirts. They currently supply Bristol City and are famous for their incredible work with Bohemian FC, producing the viral Bob Marley and Fontaines D.C. special edition kits.
The brand's agile production model will also allow Wigan to release limited-edition kits with bespoke looks.
Adding a brilliant local touch to the deal, O'Neills' UK head office is based in nearby Haydock, and the lead designer for the new kits actually hails from the local Wigan area of Hindley Green.
