Spain Had to Remove Federation Logo on Front Numbers at 2026 World Cup
- Spain's Shirt Anomaly: Spain's 2026 World Cup away shirt was observed to be missing the Spanish Football Federation logo on its front numbers, a detail confirmed by Classic Football Shirts after a fan spotted it.
- Reason for Removal: The federation logo was removed from the front numbers due to FIFA Equipment Regulation 7.2.5, which prohibits team identifiers in that specific location.
- FIFA's Specific Rule: FIFA Regulation 7.2.5 dictates that front numbers must not include any team identifiers, though a small team emblem (up to 5cm²) is permitted at the bottom of the back numbers.
A sharp-eyed fan has spotted that the Spain 2026 World Cup away shirt is missing the Spanish Football Federation logo on the front numbers during the tournament.
FIFA Does Not Allow Federation Crest on Front Numbers
Classic Football Shirts investigated the detail after one of their followers noticed a small difference between the Spain away shirt worn before and during the 2026 World Cup - and confirmed that the federation logo, which appears on the base of each front number in the retail version of the shirt is absent on the match-worn version used at the tournament.
The reason comes down to FIFA Equipment Regulation 7.2.5, which states that front numbers must not include any team identifiers, with a team emblem or symbol no bigger than 5cm² only permitted on the bottom of each digit displayed on the back of the shirt. In other words, the federation logo is allowed on the back numbers but not on the front.
