Following Mbappé's contract expiry and subsequent announcement in September 2026 that he was joining Swiss brand On, Nike had to abruptly pull the plug on the entire rollout. Scrapped designs from the collection included a special 'Mbappe Legacy' Mercurial as well as a 'Career Journey' edition.
Leaked prototypes of the Legacy boot show an off-white white upper layered with dynamic red-and-pink speed lines, deep navy Swooshes, and an intricate blue constellation and blueprint graphic that celebrated past Mercurial milestones.
