Ochoa Missing 2026 World Cup Legacy Badge - Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo & Modrić to Wear It?
- Ochoa Lacks Legacy Badge: Guillermo Ochoa was observed without the special FIFA Legacy badge on his kit during Mexico's 2026 World Cup opening match, despite being named to his sixth World Cup squad.
- Badge Worn Only by Active Players: The absence of the badge on Ochoa's kit is likely because he was an unused substitute, suggesting the new FIFA patch is applied only to the match-worn kits of players who actually take the field.
- Exclusive Group of Legacy Players: The new FIFA Legacy badge for the 2026 tournament celebrates players with five or more World Cup squad inclusions, an exclusive list that includes active players such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ochoa, and Luka Modrić.
Guillermo Ochoa was spotted without the special FIFA Legacy badge during the lineup for Mexico's opening match of the 2026 World Cup. Despite being named to his sixth World Cup squad, the Mexican goalkeeper wore a standard kit lacking the commemorative patch reserved for tournament veterans.
Ochoa Does Not Wear Legacy Badge
The absence of the badge is likely because Ochoa was an unused substitute for the match. The new FIFA patch, intended to honor players making at least their fifth World Cup appearance, appears to be applied only to the match-worn kits of players who actually take the pitch. It remains to be seen if the badge will be added to his kit should he make an appearance later in the tournament.
FIFA's Legacy badge is a new addition for the 2026 tournament, celebrating players with five or more World Cup squad inclusions. The exclusive list of active players who have reached this milestone features Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Ochoa with six inclusions, plus Luka Modrić, Fernando Muslera, Yūto Nagatomo, and Manuel Neuer with five.
