Exclusive: Adidas to Release Cheap Fan Teamwear Kits for Elite Teams
- Affordable Fan Kits Initiative: Adidas is introducing inexpensive 'takedown' fan kits for its elite teams, offering an ultra-affordable option for supporters.
- Squadra 25 Template Foundation: The new budget kits will utilize the existing Squadra 25 teamwear template, an entry-level design commonly used in grassroots sports, with custom club colors and crests but no bespoke designs.
- Combatting Market Issues: This initiative follows Adidas's previous efforts to introduce third-tier takedown shirts, aiming to address increasing kit prices and the proliferation of counterfeit merchandise.
Adidas is preparing an accessible kit alternative for supporters. The Three Stripes brand is set to launch cheap, takedown fan kits for its top-tier elite teams, creating an ultra-affordable option directly derived from one of its most popular grassroots teamwear models.
Adidas to Release Cheap Kits Based on the Budget Squadra 25 Template
Rather than designing complex budget garments from scratch, Adidas is utilizing its existing entry-level Squadra 25 template as the foundation. Serving as the direct successor to the long-running Squadra 21 line, the Squadra 25 is a staple of amateur pitches and training grounds worldwide. In standard teamwear catalogs, the blank jersey retails for approximately €23 to €32, featuring a simple solid-color body, classic Three Stripes along the shoulders, and distinctive twin-stripe borders wrapping around the sleeve cuffs.
The Adidas Squadra 2027-28 Elite Team 'Teamwear' kits will feature custom colors for each club, with the club crest on the left badge, but no bespoke designs.
The initiative follows Adidas' recent rollout of third-tier takedown shirts for international teams and select Premier League powerhouses, which aimed to combat rising kit inflation and the explosion of counterfeit shirts.
It remains to be seen if these shirts will prove popular at all. A source who saw them says that they do not compare with the usual kits at all.
