Adidas X 15.1 Design Sketches

Adidas also unveiled several Adidas X 2015-2016 Prototype Football Boots as well as custom mi Adidas X Cleats after the totally new Adidas X 15 silo was launched ahead of the 2015 Champions League Final.

Adidas X 2015-2016 Prototype Boots

This is a collection of the Adidas X Design Sketches.

Originally dubbed the Adidas Chaos Football Boot, the early Adidas X Design Sketches reveals some unique boot designs.

In a similar fashion as the Nike Mercurial Superfly Cleats, an early Adidas X Prototype Boot boasts a striking Dynamic Fit collar, designed for a sock-like fit. While the first design sketches feature a sock-like design, the final product introduced a low techfit collar to the Adidas X 15 Boots.

Adidas designers also experimented with different kinds of branding, including a bold Adidas Performance logo on the outstep and several completely brandless boot designs. In the end, the Adidas X Boots featured no Three Stripes on the upper, and the Adidas Performance logo on the heel area.

Another remarkable feature of the early Adidas X sketches is the diamond-shaped skeleton in the upper, designed for ultimate stability, and the threads in the midfoot area. However, these sleek designs were never going to work on-foot as-is, and so the design sketches are anything like the Adidas X 15.1.

Some of the early design sketches are strongly reminiscent of the Nike Magista Obra and Nike Mercurial Boots, including the Dynamic Fit collar and Nike's trademark Flywire strings. It's obvious that Adidas designers clearly drew inspiration from the revolutionary Nike Boots during the development of the Adidas X Cleats.
