Robin van Persie to Return to Adidas?
Robin van Persie could return to being an official Adidas athlete after a year wearing unbranded Adidas F50 Adizero Leather Boots. The new Fenerbahce player was recently spotted in training wearing his heavily modified Adidas Adizero Boots from last year's World Cup.
Having been an Adidas player for his entire career since the start at Feyenoord, Robin van Persie's contract with Adidas was up after the 2013-14 season and it seems the two parties could not agree on terms to continue together back then.
Robin van Persie Trains in Adidas F50 Adizero Boots
Robin van Persie is seen wearing branded Adidas Boots in training for Fenerbahce.
Combining the soleplate of van Persie's previous 2011 Adidas adiPower Boots and the upper of the very popular 2013 Adidas F50 Adidas Leather Boots, Robin van Persie's cleats were camouflaged by Adidas to look like the 2014 Adidas Adizero. In a similar move, Adidas athletes Bastian Schweinsteiger and Theo Walcott got their 2014 Adidas F50 Adizero Boots customized to look like the new Adidas X.
One year later, Adidas has released the last-ever generation of the Adidas Adizero as well as its revolutionary successor, the Adidas X. Could we see Robin van Persie in camouflaged Adidas X Football Boots shortly? His recent switch back to regularly branded Adidas Adizero Cleats suggests that a return to Adidas is on the cards.
Another possible explanation could be that van Persie's new team, Fenerbahce, is equipped by Adidas and the switch back to branded boots could have been part of that deal.
