Newcastle to Scrap Wonga Shirt Sponsorship

Newcastle United's four-year deal with the controversial payday loans firm is not up to next summer. But the Magpies are already looking for someone to take their place.

Both Parties Do Not Want to Continue the Partnership

Newcastle's 16-17 kits will be their last ever shirts to feature the Wonga logo.

However, while now English Championship club Newcastle just released their new away and third strips with the new Wonga logo, it is already certain that these kits will be the last to include the logo of the payday loans company. A spokesperson from Wonga said about the not very successful £24million investment:

"Wonga has a four-year sponsorship contract with Newcastle United Football Club that expires at the end of the 2016/2017 season and it has always been the intention of both parties to end the relationship at this time."

Do you look forward to the next Newcastle kits, the first to not feature Wonga's logo after four years? Let us know in the comments below.
