Alkmaar's new kit is inspired by the castle of Alkmaar and the clothes that bore the city's defenders during the 'Siege of Alkmaar.' Alkmaar was in 1573 the first Dutch city that managed to resist the powerful Spanish army during the Eighty Years' War.
