Boot Woes to Blame for Neymar's Shock Injury?
Neymar is likely to miss the decisive second leg of PSG's Champions League clash with Real Madrid following an ankle and foot injury he sustained against Marseille on the weekend.
Following the game a number of pictures surfaced suggesting that yet another boot switch made by the Brazilian could have complemented to this unfortunate turn of events.
Having switched to the new Nike Mercurial Vapor 12 Elite boots in the first leg at the Bernabeu, only to swap them for his previous Vapor 11 signature model after just 20 minutes. Starting with the following match, against Strasbourg in Ligue 1, Neymar was back in the bright orange Vapor 12 cleats, although with a key change - he opted for the SG-Pro (soft ground) version instead of his usual FG (firm ground).
He did the same vs Marseille, it went well at first with him scoring but then he got stuck in the grass and rolled his ankle. A sprained ankle and fissure to his 5th metatarsal will now reportedly force Neymar to be operated. He would then miss about two months of action, i.e. most of the remaining club season before returning to action in early May ahead of World Cup which starts in mid-June.
Do you think Neymar's 'new' SG boots played a role in him rolling his ankle and missing most of the current club season? Comment below.
