Messi Trains in Blackout Adidas World Cup Boots

Lionel Messi caught the attention of all football boot aficionados yesterday by lacing up in a pair of blacked-out Adidas cleats in training. We want to thank everyone who made us aware of this story (30+ people)!

Usually the face of the Nemeziz silo, it's obvious at first sight that Messi's blackout boots are a pair of Nemeziz. Although it's not 100% sure, we think that Messi here is wearing a pair of Nemeziz 18 prototypes. Not a lot about the next generation of the Adidas Nemeziz is known at the moment, but let's say it's more of a X 16 to 17 step than X 15 to 16. The Nemeziz 18 is set for a debut as part of the Adidas World Cup collection.

The boots worn by Messi are all-black with the 3 Stripes on the outside featuring an ever so slight iridescent finish. The collar shape and traction are very much the same as on the current generation of the model.

The upper appears to be a tad different and without Agilityknit in the forefoot part, something that better pictures will hopefully help clear up in the future.

Stay tuned as we'll keep you updated with more details on Messi's boots as well as the Adidas Nemeziz 18 in general.
