Milan Next? Puma Stops Sale Of All Gladbach 18-19 Kits Because Of Quality Issues

Puma has stopped the selling of the brand-new Borussia Mönchengladbach 2018-2019 kits due to material defects.

It is not the first time that Puma has problems with jerseys: In the Euro 2016, Puma's Switzerland's jerseys 'ripped like paper'.

Puma replaced Kappa as a Gladbach kit maker at the beginning of July. The six-year contract is worth about 48 million Euro.

Puma and Borussia Mönchengladbach stopped the sale of the jerseys because "deviations in the material" have been found.

Dissatisfied customers should have complained about the inadequate quality of the substance; For some jerseys material defects occurred with drawn filaments or even holes. Health-endangering substances should not have been a reason. Affected are the new home and away jersey and the corresponding jersey pants. This includes the goalie jersey with matching jersey trousers. Other products in the new Puma collection do not exhibit these manufacturing defects.

"We are in close contact with Puma, where we are working hard on a solution," says Borussia's Managing Director Stephan Schippers. "We regret very much that we can not currently offer our fans jerseys, but we want to make sure that we only sell high quality merchandise. Anyone who has bought a jersey in the past few days that causes dissatisfaction can of course exchange this with us."

"We place the highest demands on our products. Therefore, we have decided to temporarily suspend the sale of the products already delivered in order to sort out the affected product ", says Matthias Bäumer, General Manager Puma Germany, Austria and Switzerland. "We greatly regret the situation, will provide new jerseys as soon as possible and of course assure a smooth exchange."

It is reported that it will at least take several weeks until new jerseys in faultless quality will be available.
