Özil to Stop Wearing Laceless Boots?

Arsenal midfielder Özil could make a surprising boot switch ahead of the 2018-2019 season. Mesut Özil had been wearing laceless Adidas cleats since Adidas introduced the first-ever laceless boots in late 2015 (Adidas Ace, then Adidas Predator).

On Sunday, Özil announced that he retired from the German national team. Mesut Özil has been sponsored by Adidas since 2013 (He previously wore Nike boots). His contract with the Three Stripes is valid until 2020. Özil said that the sportswear manufacturer "has been extremely loyal and amazing to work with in this time".

Özil Trains in Adidas Predator 18.1 Boots

Özil has been spotted wearing the Adidas Predator 18.1 in training this week.

Arsenal's Mesut Özil wore a non-modified version of the Adidas Predator 18.1 2018 World Cup boot from the Energy Mode pack. The main difference to the Adidas Predator 18+ is that the Adidas Predator 18.1 features laces.

However, Mesut Özil has been also spotted wearing the laceless Adidas Predator 18+ boots in one of the first pre-season training sessions. So only time will tell whether he will make the switch to the Adidas Predator 18.1.
