Serie A Starts Allowing Sleeve Sponsors

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has given its approval for Serie A teams to have a sleeve sponsor on their playing shirts. The request was made by all clubs of the first division during one of the last meetings with the FIGC, the governing body for soccer in Italy.

Serie A Now Allows Up To 4 Different Shirt Sponsors

Serie A teams are now allowed to have four different sponsors. The official statement from Serie A reads: "Sponsorship advertising is allowed on the front of the shirt, on the back of the shirt (under the number) and on the left sleeve of the shirt; the total area occupied by advertising must not exceed 650 cm2.”

Serie A teams are allowed to have a sponsor....

  • at the front of the jersey with a space for advertising by commercial sponsors up to 350 cm², inserting within this space no more than two brands, one of which is at most 250 cm²;
  • on the back of the shirt, under the number, a space for the advertising of a single commercial sponsor up to 200 cm²;
  • on the left sleeve of the jersey a space for the advertising of a single commercial sponsor up to 100 cm².

Serie A joins the Bundesliga, Ligue 1, La Liga and the Premier League in allowing clubs to have a sleeve sponsor.
