Purple / Electricity Adidas Nemeziz Messi "Ballon d'Or 2019" Boots Released - Inspired by 2010 World Cup Colorway
After they were already debuted in Sunday's La Liga top match between Atlético and Barcelona, the brand-new Adidas Nemeziz Messi 19.1 "Electricity" boots were officially released this morning.
Following Messi's record-breaking sixth Ballon d'Or triumph and lacking an "official" Ballon d'Or boot, Adidas and its affiliated retailers have branded the new boots as the Ballon d'Or edition. However, it was impossible for Adidas to predict this roughly a year ago when it was decided that the boots would be launched in December - in the end Messi only edged Virgil van Dijk by a single point.
This is further evidenced by the lack of any Ballon d'Or-related imagery on the boots themselves, a far cry from the concept design:

Tech-wise, the Adidas Nemeziz Messi 19.1 signature boots are the same as standard colorways of the Adidas Nemeziz 19.1 cleats. The Adidas Nemeziz 19.1 have a 360 Agility Tension Tape upper & collar and a two part outsole.

Puma Kits Keep Ripping at the 2026 World Cup
Puma is facing significant criticism at the 2026 World Cup as multiple national team jerseys have easily ripped during matches.
Incidents involving players from Czechia, Morocco, Egypt, and Paraguay have highlighted an ongoing durability issue with the brand's latest kits - every torn shirt in the tournament so far belongs to a Puma-sponsored team.
The Puma 2026 World Cup kits incorporate the latest version of PUMA's ULTRAWEAVE “Thermoadapt” technology, which obviously is not tear-resistant enough.
The recurring wardrobe malfunctions have resulted in terrible PR for the German sportswear manufacturer and even prompted the viral resurgence of Xherdan Shaqiri's infamous quote from Euro 2016, where he joked that he hopes Puma does not produce condoms.
