Taken As Kit Inspiration From Adidas & Nike | Manchester United 1909 Kit
Adidas will celebrate the 110-years anniversary of Manchester United's 1909 FA Cup triumph next season with the club's new third kit. However, it is not the first time that a Manchester United jersey pays homage to the kit of 1909. In 2009, Nike also paid homage to the 1909 'Rose' kit for Manchester United's collection.
Nike celebrated 100 years of Old Trafford in 2009, while Adidas refers to the 1909 FA Cup final when the jersey was also worn. United first opened their famous Old Trafford during the 1909/10 season.
Nike Manchester United 2009-10 Home Jersey
The Nike Man Utd 2009-10 home kit featured a large chevron across the chest, reflecting the design of the 1909 'Rose' kit. Inside the black round-neck collar is woven label in red, white and black, while engineered into the side seam is a small label that reads ‘The Theatre of Dreams Since 1910.’
Adidas Manchester United 2019-2020 3rd Jersey
In contrast to Nike, Adidas went for a more modern interpretation. The Adidas Manchester United 19-20 third kit is black with a stylish rose pattern, inspired by the kit worn in the 1909 FA Cup final.
Nike Manchester United 2009 Heritage Jersey
Nike also released a special Heritage collection for the 100th anniversary of the club's stadium.
The collection included a special jersey that was a direct remake of the Manchester United 1909 FA Cup Final jersey as well as other pieces such as a jacket.
