No More Nike - Select Liga Portugal (Liga NOS) 19-20 Ball Released

  • New Ball Supplier: Select will be the official match ball provider for Liga Portugal, replacing Nike.
  • Partnership Duration: The agreement between Select and Liga Portugal is until 2023.
  • Nike's Previous Role: Nike did not create a custom ball for the Liga NOS before being replaced.

Danish company Select will make official match ball for all professional competitions of the Portuguese League from next season after they signed a partnership with Liga Portugal until 2023. Select replaces Nike, who did not release a custom ball for the Primeira Liga, which is known as Liga NOS for sponsorship reasons.

The Danish company is a supplier of several professional leagues and divisions in Europe and the USA, coming to our country through an agreement with the Liga Portugal, which now has a ball with the same characteristics of DERBYSTAR, ball that is used in the Bundesliga - the name is different only for market issues.

Select Brillant Super TB 2019-2020 Liga NOS Official Match Ball

Inspired by Portugal's red kit, the Select Brillant ball for the Liga NOS 2019-20 season combines the classic ball colors white and black with powerful red colour elements and dynamic, striped edges to symbolise the speed and movement of the ball in a fast-paced game. The design increases the visibility of the ball for players, goalkeepers and spectators.

The FIFA Quality Pro certified BRILLANT SUPER TB has the characteristics that distinguish a classic SELECT ball and is suitable for matches at the absolute highest level. The materials are carefully selected and tested to exactly match the qualities that give the best playability and durability. The original 32 panel-construction of the ball provides an superior, stable flight in the air.

For Pedro Proença, President of the Liga Portugal, the quality of the product is confirmed, and this is a "fundamental factor in a professional competition".

"All this requires a strategic change. The Liga Portugal, in its process of internationalisation, has been looking for its partners, namely international ones, and the issue of the ball for us was something absolutely fundamental. We looked for partners who had the same strategy as us", explains the President of the Liga Portugal.

The manager also praises Select, a company that "from the very first moment showed willingness" in this partnership".

"We are extremely pleased with this link that will go far beyond what is only the ball, and that will put us back in a new strategic dimension, absolutely fundamental for us. Select has room for intervention in more than nine professional leagues, such as the Bundesliga, the Dutch League or the Belgian League and this is a cross-cutting issue that football has," adds Pedro Proença.

Founded in 1947 by Eigil Nielsen, Denmark's international goalkeeper, Select was the first brand to produce balls with 32 panels and synthetic leather balls. Currently, the Nordic company, which also produces balls from the Belgian and Dutch Championships, among others, manufactures more than 3.5 million balls per year.

For Peter Knap, CEO of Select Sport A/S, this partnership is a "source of pride", as it has grown on the basis of the brand's "know-how and excellent reputation".

"The partnership with the Liga Portugal is a great recognition of our long tradition of excellent quality and innovation in balls. This has been our brand since 1947 and we will keep that focus as we go. We are looking forward to this 4-year partnership that will certainly strengthen our brand and position," he says.

Michael Olise Wears Custom Nike Hypervenom Phantom 3 Boots by Matty Boy

Michael Olise took to the pitch for his first 2026 World Cup match against Senegal wearing a unique pair of custom football boots. Rather than opting for one of Nike's current mainline models, Olise laced up in a personalized version of the Nike Hypervenom Phantom III boots.

The design features a distinct hand-painted aesthetic, applying personalized graphics and details directly onto the classic Hypervenom Phantom III 'Just Do It', released in 2018. This choice by Olise highlights a continuing trend of players showcasing bespoke, artist-customized footwear during major tournaments.

The custom Matty Boy edition serves as a striking blend of high-performance football gear and individual streetwear-inspired artistry.

FC Luzern 2026-27 Away Kit Released

The new FC Luzern 2026-27 away kit has been officially released. Made by Erreà, the shirt will be worn during the club's 26-27 Swiss Super League campaign and follows the release of their 125th-anniversary home kit earlier in May.

The Erreà FC Luzern 2026-27 away shirt draws inspiration from one of the city's most representative architectural landmarks, the Jesuit Church. It features a sophisticated tone-on-tone ornamental pattern that runs discreetly across the fabric. A striking blue vertical stripe, enhanced by a subtle golden trim, runs down the center of the shirt, paying homage to the club's traditional colors and adding a touch of elegance to the overall design.

The new Erreà FC Luzern 2026-27 away jersey successfully connects the club's local heritage with a contemporary aesthetic. The kit is currently available to purchase through the official club store.
