First Kit Designed By Yohji Yamamoto Since Real Madrid's in 2014 - Amazing Adidas New Zealand 2019 Rugby World Cup Jerseys Released

The 2019 Rugby World Cup will soon begin, taking place in Japan from 20 September until 2 November 2019. For the tournament, Adidas teamed up with famous Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto to design the jerseys for the reigning champions, the New Zealand national rugby union team, called the All Blacks .

Yohji Yamamoto is famous for his collabs with the Three Stripes. His most popular football product he ever designed was the Real Madrid 2014-2015 third kit, which is already a rare collector's item. He has not designed a football kit or other soccer product since then.

Adidas New Zealand 2019 Rugby World Cup Home Jersey

Boasting the traditinal all-black look of the 'All Blacks’, the standout element of the Adidas New Zealand 2019 Rugby World Cup Home Jersey is an all-over tonal fern pattern beneath that make the jersey looking like being made from fern.

At the chest, the shirt features the RWC 2019 logo, the adidas badge and the All Blacks’ silver fern logo, from left to right in contrasting white. Embossed on the right sleeve is the RWC is a nod to the All Blacks’ World Cup victories in 1987, 2011 and 2015.

The Adidas New Zealand 2019 Rugby World Cup jersey is specifically woven to be seamless and breathable, weighing 25% less than the previous jersey.

“We wanted to create a jersey that brought together the Japanese and Māori cultures,” Yohji Yamamoto said in a statement, alluding to the All Blacks’ rule of only hiring players of Māori descent. “The design bears hand-drawn koru and fern motifs in a celebration of Māori culture. It has been a privilege to work on such a major project and I wish the team the best of luck in the tournament.”

More guidance on the project came from the team’s Kaihautu (Māori advisor), Luke Crawford. “The fern design represents the legacy of those players who have worn the jersey in the past,” he explained. Meanwhile, “The unfurling koru represents the younger players coming through – the All Blacks of the future. I think Y-3 have really captured the mauri [essence] of what the All Blacks jersey stands for and how it represents us, and created a truly beautiful garment.”

Adidas New Zealand 2019 Rugby World Cup Away Jersey

The away jersey for the All Blacks inverts the colors - it is white and black.

Alongside the official jerseys, a range of stunning other gear for the All Blacks has been designed, including a stylish black / white jacket as well as a sky blue training jersey.

The Y-3 designed Adidas New Zealand 2019 rugby jerseys retail at prices similar to the Three Stripes' soccer jerseys. There are various different versions available, including replica and authentic shirts.
