Mourinho Stays With Adidas Despite Joining Nike-Sponsored Tottenham - Wears 'Cheap' Adidas Cleats In Training
New Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho will remain an Adidas ambassador, that despite the fact he has joined Nike-sponsored Tottenham.
Since leaving Inter Milan in 2010, Mourinho has only coached Adidas-sponsored football clubs. He has continually been a face of the brand as he has been in the last 15 years.
Whether it has been an influence over his decisions, orwhether it has just been one of those strange coincidences, since leaving Inter Milan in 2010, Jose Mourinho has taken the helm at only Adidas-sponsored teams, allowing him to comfortably continue his role as brand ambassador for the Three Stripes. But all that changed when he replaced Mauricio Pochettino as manager at Tottenham Hotspur recently, who have an affiliation with American giants, Nike.
Mourinho Wears Adidas Boots In Tottenham Training
According to sources, he is paid around €250,000 a season. The Portuguese will continue to wear Adidas products on both match-day and in training.
In fact, the 56-year old Portuguese coach has already been seen on the training ground in a pair of Adidas cleats. However, he did not lace up in the high-end boots from Adidas but in lower-tier versions of the Adidas Predator 19 and the ‘Encryption Pack’ COPA 20 - that alongside the Spurs training shirt.
Managers usually sign deals with brands that exist with their clubs, as has been seen over the last couple of seasons with the deal between New Balance and Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola and Puma
