Coppa Italia Becomes "Coppa Italia Coca-Cola"

Coca-Cola has acquired the title sponsorship rights for the Coppa Italia, Italian football’s main cup competition. The Coppa Italia will be known as "Coppa Italia Coca-Cola" from the Coppa Italia final on June 17.

Italian football returns with the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final between Juventus and AC Milan on Friday, June 12 2020.

The alliance between the Lega Serie A and Coca-Cola started with the Supercoppa Italiana, of which Coca-Cola first became the title sponsor in late 2019.

Coca-Cola Signs Coppa Italia Title Sponsorship

The Coca-Cola Coppa Italia deal is worth reportedly €5m ($5.5m) per season. The deal between the cup’s organising body, Lega Serie A, and Coca-Cola will further expand to some additonal sponsor rights to Serie A itself during the 2020-21 season.

"We welcome Coca-Cola, one of the best-known brands in the world, among our partners with great enthusiasm'' said Luigi De Siervo, CEO of the Serie A League. ''The partnership with Coca-Cola is the consequence of a repositioning process of the Serie A brand and enhancement of our commercial assets that we have been building in recent months with the full collaboration of the 20 associated clubs. Our National Cup, through Coca-Cola, will take on even more value thanks to the many marketing and communication initiatives that we will carry out in the Final, always inspired by the positive values of the brand".

"Lega Serie A and Coca-Cola announce an important partnership agreement that will start with the 2019-20 Coppa Italia Final, scheduled on Wednesday June 17, 2020, at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome”, a press release read. Coca-Cola, a company that has been operating and producing in Italy for more than 90 years, will be, in the context of a broader strategic partnership."
