Each Shirt Compared: Adidas Humanrace 2020 Kits - Classic vs 'Reimagined Kits'
On Friday, Adidas released the Humanrace football shirts for their five biggest teams - Arsenal, Bayern, Juventus, Manchester United and Real Madrid. Designed by Pharrell Williams, each is inspired by a specific iconic past design. We take a closer look at the inspiration of every shirt.
Adidas Humanrace Football Shirts - Each Inspired By Classic Kit
For their inspiration, Pharrell Williams and Adidas selected only old kits from the Three Stripes' brand and not from rival manufacturers. Pharrell Williams has tried to chose the most iconic classic shirts from Adidas for each club.
Bayern Munich and Juventus will actually wear their kits in-match. Therefore, their shirts feature the actual sponsors in the designs instead of the Humanrace logo.
Arsenal | 1991-93 Away / Third
Inspired by the 'bruised banana' shirt from 1991-1992, the Adidas Arsenal 2020 Pharrell Williams Humanrace shirt is the kit that has most differences to the original shirt. Pharrell Williams changed the colors, the pattern is much bigger due to the 'color fading'.
Bayern München | 1992-93 Home
For Bayern München, Pharrell Williams took the 1991-93 home shirt. Bayern's kit comes with the current sponsor Telekom as they will wear the kit in an official match.
Juventus FC | 2015-16 Third
The Juventus Humanrace shirt is based on the pink 2015-16 away kit.
Manchester United | 1990-92 Away
For Man Utd, the choice was possibly as easy as for Arsenal - Pharrell selected the 1990-92 away kit, which has been already 'relaunched' a couple of times.
Real Madrid | 2014-15 Third
The Adidas Real Madrid Humanrace football shirt is more or less a blurred out version of the Yamamoto-designed 2014-2015 Dragon third kit, which was surely the most popular Real Madrid kit of the 2010s, and one of the best of the 2010s in overall.
