New Welsh Rugby 20-21 Kit Bears Similarity To Liverpool 20-21 Home Kit

The Welsh Rugby Union today revealed its new 2020/21 shirts by Italian brand Macron. This would usually not be featured on our website - but the kit boasts some striking similiraties to Liverpool's 20-21 Nike home kit.

“The new kit is striking representation of Welsh rugby tradition and we are delighted to be able to launch our new seven-year partnership with Macron in such a spectacular way,” said WRU CEO Steve Phillips.

“The Welsh Rugby Union represents one of the pillar stones of world rugby and for Macron to stand side by side with this sporting giant, means that we as a brand, have reached yet another great milestone,” said Macron‘s CEO Gianluca Pavanello.

“Our goal is for the new kits to be instantly recognisable and something that clearly express the Welsh identity and spirit. We hope that our hard work has paid off and that the new collection will be loved by players and fans alike and that the kits evoke the emotion that such a great nation deserves.”

Welsh Rugby 2020-2021 Home Kit

Bespoke and custom-made by Macron for Welsh Rugby, the new Wales Rugby 2020-21 ‘home’ jersey from Macron has a deep traditional Welsh red. SImilar to the LFC 20-21 home kit, it has a classic white v-neck collar tipped with green trim, with the same detailing to be found on the sleeve.

All the details of the Macron Welsh Rugby 2020-21 shirt are totally different to the Liverpool jersey, of course.

"A set of unique features sees the red dragon of the Welsh flag embossed across lower back of the shirt, an embossed pattern covering the sleeves – cleverly transforming the hexagonal shape of the WRU three-feathers logo into ‘dragon scales’ – and the Welsh word ANRHYDEDD (honour), also embossed, on the back of the collar."

The Wales 2020-21 rugby home shirt has been designed by Macron without knowledge of the Liverpool 20-21 home kit pretty certainly, of course. Shirt designs are finalized at least 12 months ahead of the launch usually.

Welsh Rugby 2020-21 Away Jersey

The Welsh Rugby 2020-2021 away kit is black with a white v-neck collar, this time tipped with red trim that is also found on the sleeves and cuffs.
