The pictures of the Nike Mercurial Superfly 8 football boots show blackout prototype of the launch edition of the next-gen Nike Mercurial 2021 cleats ('Bright Crimson / Metallic Silver / Volt'). They have an all-black upper and red / electricity elements on the plate & studs.

Tech-wise, the pictures show the lower-tier Mercurial Superfly 8 Academy cleats. The photos nevertheless reveal the main changes Nike made for the high-end Nike Mercurial Superfly VIII football boots.
First, the upper has undergone a major change from the current generation. It seems to be completely 3D and has a high-relief Swoosh as well as other bulging elements.
For the sole, there is one big difference. While the plates of the current Mercurial are divided in a front and rear part without a connection, the Nike Mercurial Superfly 8 Elite soccer cleats are made in a single plate with a kind of bridge joining the front with the back.
The names of the features are not known yet
In fact, a similar sole solution has been created by Nike for the Nike Phanton GT.
The new Nike Mercurial Superfly 8 football shoes will be launched in February 2021.

Update - Sunday, May 17, 2026: The checkered design has won Konyaspor's 26-27 special kit vote, it was announced by the club.
Turkish Super Lig side Konyaspor has officially handed the design reins to its supporters by launching a fan vote to select the club's 2026-27 alternative kit, with three bespoke Hummel designs currently up for debate.
The "Anatolian Eagles" are offering a diverse menu of choices: a vibrant green-and-white checkered pattern that evokes a classic retro feel, a clean half-and-half vertical split with intricate chevron detailing on the sleeves, and a minimalist white base featuring a sharp green horizontal band across the chest.
In a nod to the club's heritage, the poll is scheduled to close this Friday, May 15 at exactly 19:22 - a tribute to the club’s founding year.
