Barça Do Not Want To Give Messi's No. 10 Any Player In 21-22 Season - FC Barcelona 21-22 Squad Numbers
Update: Coutinho's No. 14 has been given to Albanian center forward Rey Manaj. Coutinho, Umtiti, and Pjanic are not in FC Barcelona's squad for today's La Liga opener against Real Sociedad. All these three players could leave the club.
Barcelona do not want to give any player Messi's No. 10
Barcelona also announced that they do not want to give Messi's former shirt number any player in the 21-22 season. To achieve this, they need to have a free space in the squad (and sell Coutinho, Umtiti, and/or Pjanic). In La Liga, all members in the matchday squad must have a number between No.1 and No.25.
Meanwhile, Barcelona was able to meet LaLiga's requirements and register Memphis Depay (No.9), Eric Garcia (No. 24) and Rey Manaj (No. 14) - thanks to an agreement reached with Gerard Pique that saw his salary decreased.
FC Barcelona will start in La Liga on Saturday - the Catalan club has given several players new shirt numbers.
A team players must wear between No. 1-25
In La Liga, players in the A-squad (maximum 25 players, including a maximum of three goalkeepers) must wear a number between 1–25. Goalkeepers must wear either 1, 13, or 25. When players from the reserve team are selected to play for the first team, they are given squad numbers between 26 and 50.
Barcelona could not register Agüero, Depay & Eric García yet
Barcelona could yet no officially register 3 players because of La Liga's FFP rules until Friday - Memphis Depay, Sergio Agüero, and Eric Garcia.

The 2021-2022 season is the club's first without Messi for more than 15 years. First and most importantly, after the departure of Messi, the No. 10 shirt is free in FC Barcelona's 2021-22 squad.
