Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey Played Without a Name or Shirt Number
If you watched Aston Villa's away match against Everton this afternoon, you may have noticed something odd about one of Villa's shirts. Both the player's name and number were missing, the player in question being youngster Jacob Ramsey.
No Name or Shirt Number on Ramsey's Kit
Not only keen-eyed viewers noticed the missing essential information on the back of Jacob Ramsey's kit in Villa's 1:0 win over Everton. Both his name and number were absent from his jersey, however this was not the case when the match was started.
The young player's shirt was torn during the first half, therefore the Aston Villa staff had to scramble to get him a replacement. It seems the only suitable kit they could muster up was one with neither a name nor number on the back. This made for a highly unusual look by Premier League standards.
Normally players and staff are prepared for a scenario such as this one, as it is not uncommon for them to have to switch kits due to blood or torn fabric. It appears that Aston Villa simply did not have a replacement shirt available for Ramsey.
