English youngsters Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka caught our attention with their socks this week. Both had more than one hole in them - let us take a closer look and find out why they are doing it.
Bellingham & Saka Cut Holes In Socks to Reduce Tension Placed On Calf Muscles
Bellingham had not only one but four big holes in both of his socks, making them almost fall apart.
Meanwhile, Saka's socks featured two holes that looked like a quality issue - but it was not one. This becomes obvious when checking images of previous games in which Saka had holes in his socks that looked not random.
So, what is the reason for the holes? The holes were cut into the socks to reduce the tension placed on the calf muscles and consequently reduce pain in the latter stages of a match.
Various players have cut holes in their socks in the past, including Neymar, Kyle Walker, Angelino, and Gareth Bale.
