Argentine Fans Want Adidas to Put 3 Stars Next Together

Around two hours after the end of the penalty shootout, Adidas provided Argentina with 3-star 2022 kits. Now some days after the triumph, more and more Argentine fans want Adidas to change the way the 3 stars are arranged.

As you surely know, teams are allowed to add a star for each World Cup title on their kit.

The crest and badge somehow look mismatched

Adidas Put Third Star On Top, Fans Don't Like That This Suggests One Title is More Important Than Another

The Adidas Argentina 3-star logo on the official 2022 Winners kit has the three stars not next together. Instead, Adidas decided to use the 2-star 2022 World Cup kit and put the extra star on the top.

Adidas just have to put the three stars on the existing kit

It is not known why Adidas decided to put the extra star on the top. However, it seems plausible that they have done so to make things much easier. By putting the third star on the top, Adidas do not have to produce any new kits.

Another reason could be marketing. With the third star on the top, everybody gets reminded that Argentina have won their third World Cup title in December 2022.

In 2014, Adidas put the stars for Germany's national team next together

After Germany's 2014 World Cup triumph, Adidas did not put the fourth star on the top. Instead, the Three Stripes released a "new" kit with four stars next together.

FIFA Equipment Regulations Apparently Do Not Prevent Teams From Putting a Star on the Top

The official FIFA Equipment Rules of course have regulations for the so-called "FIFA Winners' Stars". They must be of a max. 2cm diameter, and spaced max. 2cm apart.

We could not find a rule that says that FIFA Winners' Stars have to be put at the same height but you never know with FIFA.

Will Adidas Release New Argentina Kits With 3 Stars On the Same Level?

We have no info yet if Adidas are going to release a three-star version of the current kit with three stars next together. As of now, it seems unlikely.

We expect Adidas to release new Argentina kits in 2024 at the latest. For the Argentina 2024 (possibly launched already at the end of 2023) kits we strongly expect Adidas to put the three stars on the same level.

All this reminds us of the MLS Star system. The star for the reigning champions is put on the top.
