Espanyol Use Makeshift Goalkeeper Jersey to Avoid Kit Clash

Espanyol's keeper Joan Garcia wore an improvised shirt in his side's recent Copa del Rey victory over Atlético Paso.

Espanyol Keeper Wears Improvised Shirt

Espanyol travelled to the Canary Islands to take on Atlético Paso in the Copa Del Rey on Tuesday but their kitman didn't pack very well for the trip. He only brought one version of the team's three goalkeeper jerseys, which just so happened to be the exact same colours as Atlético Paso's black and red strip.

As a makeshift solution, Espanyol keeper Joan Garcia wore a green training shirt with the number one in the back made out of tape. A pretty tidy job all the same, it must be said, but probably a good decision not to try and spell his name out using the same method.

The training shirt sponsor differs from the match kit sponsor but Garcia's white shorts and socks were identical to his those of his outfield teammates.

Atlético Paso usually play in green but launched their special edition black and red shirt just before the clash with Espanyol, so the clashing colours must have taken the kitman by surprise. Had he known in advance, he could have brought along one of the club's alternate gk shirts, pictured below.
