Serie A is set for a major equipment shake-up. Footy Headlines can exclusively leak that Italian football's top flight will not renew its official match ball agreement with Puma, paving the way for Adidas to take over as the league's official match ball supplier starting from the 27-28 season.
Adidas to Make Serie A Ball From 27-28 Season
The upcoming change will bring an end to a five-season run with Puma, who took over supplier duties from longtime partner Nike ahead of the 22-23 campaign. Throughout their tenure, the German brand supplied match balls for Italy's top tier, starting with multiple evolutions of the Orbita model and concluding with the Stellar Nitro Ultimate introduced for the ongoing 26-27 season.
The move marks a significant coup for Adidas in Italy. The brand already maintains high-profile deals in the country, outfitting the Italian national team (FIGC) alongside top clubs like Juventus and AS Roma. Securing the official league match ball contract will further strengthen the Three Stripes' footprint across the Italian football landscape.
Puma will see out the remainder of its contract through the conclusion of the 26-27 campaign. The debut Adidas Serie A official match ball is expected to be unveiled in the spring or summer of 2027 ahead of the 27-28 season.
