Kim Min-jae Effect: Napoli Reveal South Korean Company Upbit as New Back-of-Shirt Sponsor

Napoli announced that the Cryptocurrency Exchange brand, Upbit becomes the club's new back-of-shirt sponsor.

On January 2, the Partenopei officially announced that they have struck a partnership with Korean startup, Dunamu Inc which owns Upbit. The partnership resulted in Napoli having the Cryptocurrency exchange as their latest sponsor.

The new ad brings a slight addition to the Napoli jersey which is the Upbit letter logo whose color varies between the home and away jersey. For the home kit, the logo is all white while for the away shirt, it is blue.

Napoli Debut New Back-of-Shirt Sponsor Against Inter

Luciano Spalletti's side debuted their new away jersey with Upbit as the back-of-shirt sponsor in their midweek clash against the Nerazzurri. Unfortunately, the new sponsored kit didn't give much luck as Napoli suffered a 1-0 defeat in that game.

That was the Partenopei's first league defeat this season, reducing their gap at the top with AC Milan to just five points.

South Korean national team star is one of the main reasons for the new Korean sponsor

Having one of the South Korean national team stars, Kim Min-jae, is one of the main reasons for Napoli to strike that partnership with Dunamu Inc.

The defender signed with the Partenopei this summer for a reported fee of around €18m from Fenerbahce.

Napoli's Chief International Development Officer, Tomasso Bianchini admits that with the partnership with Dunamu Inc, the club can expand its market and presence in South Korea.

"We are delighted to welcome Upbit to our family and look forward to working together to expand our presence in South Korea," Bianchini said.

Napoli will potentially still use their away jersey in their next Serie A game as they will be away to face Sampdoria. The Partenopei first home game using the new jersey with Upbit back-of-shirt sponsor could happen in their first home game this year, against Juventus on January 13.
