Nike Unveil New Leak Protection Innovation for Period Concern Ahead of 2023 Women World Cup

Answering the recent concern from women athletes, notably football players regarding period, Nike have just come up with a new technology to handle it. The US-based company recently unveiled their new innovation called, Nike Leak Protection: Period.

Nike's new technology is being crafted to help women even those non-athletes so they can keep doing their activities during the period. The Leak Protection: Period technology updates shorts with an added layer to help women handle their menstruation more comfortably, especially during any activities.

Handling period issue during activities have been a pretty concerning issue for women athletes, especially football players. Previously, England’s women national were voicing their concern by planning to change their white shorts to blue for the upcoming 2023 Women's World Cup on July 20 to August 20, because of menstruation concerns.

Even though the Lionesses’ request of changing their shorts was approved but they also get more than what they were initially asked for with the new leak protection technology. Nike have confirmed that all of their sponsored women's teams in the upcoming World Cup will have the new technology applied to their pro shorts as the base layer. The tournament will also mark the debut of Nike’s new protection technology in sporting

events.

Aside from England, 12 other nations such as Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Korea, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Portugal, and the U.S. will also see their shorts being upgraded with the renowned sportswear’s new technology. Nike will certainly hope that the upgraded shorts can provide protection and comfort for the players in the tournament.

Meanwhile, other women or girls who are keen on trying out the technology can also experience it without getting the pro shorts for the women’s team. Nike will also debut the leak protection technology on one of its most loved items, the Nike One Short silhouette.

Explaining the new stuff, Senior Project Manager, Nike Apparel Innovation, Lisa Gibson said, “Nike Leak Protection: Period is for people with periods across all life stages, designed to give them an added layer of confidence so they can feel secure during all forms of sport and movement. It's an innovation that we believe will change people's lives."
