New Signings and Swaps Bring Squad Number Shake-Up at Real Madrid
Real Madrid's summer signings and player swaps have led to a reshuffling of squad numbers since the conclusion of the 2022-23 campaign.
Mock-up
Among the new signings, Jude Bellingham, the marquee arrival, will don the No. 5 shirt, previously held by Jesús Vallejo. Other newcomers to the squad include Joselu (No. 14), Fran García (No. 20), and Arda Güler (No. 24). In terms of changes within the existing squad, Vinícius Júnior has moved from No. 20 to No. 7, while Rodrygo Goes now wears the No. 11 jersey, previously worn by Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio.
Real Madrid's No. 9 kit is being reserved for Mbappé
The squad numbers at Real Madrid are now almost fully allocated, with only one popular number remaining: the No. 9 left by Benzema, and possibly reserved for Kylian Mbappé. Indeed, new striker Joselu has been given the No. 14 shirt so that the No. 9 is still available.
