Should Liverpool Have Announced This Earlier? Darwin Nunez Gets No. 9 Kit
Confirming the rumors, Liverpool's new forward, Darwin Nunez, has chosen to wear the No.9 jersey for the upcoming 2023-24 season. The number 9 had previously been left vacant after Roberto Firmino's departure earlier this summer.
Fans Can Exchange 'Darwin 27' Shirts for 'Darwin 9'
Darwin's number change had been rumored since ever Firmino's exit was confirmed but now was only made official after the club launched both the home and away kits. This causes fans who purchased the kit that they got the wrong Darwin No. 27 shirt.
Liverpool are aware of this problem and offer all fans an exchange of the wrong Darwin No. 27 kits. However, this is still unfavorable, as only the club offer the free exchange, and other buyers are left with the wrong kit.
Buyers who did not buy it through Liverpool are left with the wrong kits
Images that have been leaked confirm that a number change has been in the works for several weeks, and it is unclear why it was not announced earlier. Unfortunately, this has resulted in a waste of resources, as some incorrect kits had already been produced. While kits bought via the club will be donated to the Liverpool Foundation, it is still a waste of resources.
