Alaska Airlines End 13-Year Main Kit Sponsorship Deal with Portland Timbers

Alaska Airlines have announced that they will not renew their sponsorship deal with the Portland Timbers at the end of the 2023 season. This is reported by the local newspaper Oregon Live.

Portland Timbers Have Already Signed New Main Sponsor, Deal Announced in Coming Months

The Portland-based soccer club have been sporting the Alaska Airlines logo on the front of its jerseys since joining Major League Soccer in 2011, making it a rare sight for a team to maintain their kit sponsor for such a long period of time. The airline also had a sponsorship agreement with the Portland Thorns, which is due to expire at the end of the 2023 season. It is unclear if the Thorns' new ownership will pursue a partnership with Alaska.

Portland already have signed a new main sponsor deal

In the wake of the U.S. Soccer investigation’s release in October 2022, Alaska announced that it would redirect their sponsorship contributions to the National Women's Soccer League Players’ Association.

The Timbers have reportedly signed a new kit sponsor, with the announcement set to be made in the coming months.

Before being sponsored Alaska Airlines, Portland's kit featured the logos of Oregon Live and Toyota.
