Update: Michail Antonio began the season by cutting the elastic around his West Ham home shirt because it was too tight. Now, Umbro has created a special version of the kit with a different collar. Meanwhile, Jarrod Bowen folded over the collar to be less restrictive. Other West Ham United players wear the kit with no changes.

Several West Ham United players are apparently feeling constricted by the round neck collars of their 2024-2025 kits.

A few Hammers have discomfort with the tight fit and cut the collar in the front, allowing for a more comfortable fit that does not hinder breathing.

As at least three West Ham players cut the collar, it seems well possible that Umbro will provide West Ham with a fixed, standard smaller round collar.

This is not the first time that athletes have voiced their concerns about kit collar design, but problems mainly have been with polo collars. Toni Kroos said that he "hates polo collars", and Frankfurt's defender Hinteregger cut off the polo collar when playing for Frankfurt (Nike later supplied him with custom nonpolo collar kits).
