Pumas to Leave Nike for Puma

  • Partnership Change: Pumas UNAM is expected to end its partnership with Nike and switch to Puma as their kit sponsor.
  • Contract Details: The current contract with Nike expires at the end of the 2025-26 season, with Puma potentially taking over from the 2026-27 season.
  • Reunion: If the deal goes through, Pumas would be reuniting with Puma after 12 years, having previously been their kit supplier from 2009 to 2014.

A major change in kit suppliers may be on the horizon in Mexico. A reliable source from Footy Headlines has reported that the long-standing partnership between Pumas UNAM and Nike is expected to come to an end, with rival German brand Puma set to take over as the club’s new kit sponsor.

Pumas UNAM to Sign Puma Kit Deal

The current contract between Pumas and Nike is set to expire at the end of the 2025-26 season, and an extension is now considered unlikely. Puma is reportedly set to replace Nike as the team's kit supplier starting from the 2026-27 season. This move would mark a sensational return for the brand to the Mexico City-based club.

A Return to a Former Partner After 12 Years

Should this deal materialize, it would see Pumas and Nike end their partnership after 12 years (since 2014). Coincidentally, they would be reuniting with Puma, who was their kit supplier for five years immediately prior to Nike, from 2009 to 2014.

As seen in the club's supplier history, Pumas have worked with a variety of brands over the years, including Lotto and even a previous stint with Nike from 1995 to 2002.
