PureGym to Ban Football Shirts in UK Gyms from November 2025

PureGym Rules Ban Football Shirts
A new sign spotted inside one of the chain’s gyms lists updated dress code rules, including “No Football Tops (time to swap out for your favourite workout gear)”, set to take effect from 1 November 2025.
The policy also prohibits slides, Crocs, jeans, and work or school clothes. While PureGym hasn’t publicly explained the reasoning, some speculate it’s to reduce potential tensions linked to club rivalries or to maintain a neutral environment.
There are also many footballers who wear football shirts of (other) clubs when working out. For example, German 2014 World Cup winner Mats Hummels wore a Greece kit in the gym, when being a free agent. Back then, he had another problem - to choose a football kit that would spark no rumors of a transfer - a move to the Greece national team was impossible.
